LIVE BLOG: Clinton Becomes First Woman Nominated for President

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Convention chairwoman Marcia Fudge gavels the convention out till 4:30 p.m. EDT (2030 UTC) Wednesday.

Wednesday is a big day for the convention with speech by President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, as well as Hillary Clinton's vice presidential nominee, Tim Kaine.

The benediction is being given as the delegates begin leaving the arena.

Hillary Clinton -- actually with a group of 20 or so women and girls -- thanks the delegates. She says, if there are any little girls out there who stayed up late to watch, I may become the first female president, "but you're next."
